Business Advisory

Purpose of Business Advisory Services:

Agribank offers Business Advisory Services to clients dedicated to enhancing their knowledge and skills to optimize their farming operations. Through these services, clients receive expert guidance from Technical and Agribusiness Advisors on developing production-related competencies, farm management capacities, marketing strategies, and financial and credit management capabilities. This holistic approach aims to empower clients to transform their farming activities into sustainable and successful business ventures.

The business advisory journey is structured to be completed within a maximum timeframe of one year and is organized into three distinct phases: 1) engagement and planning upon entry, 2) implementation, and 3) completion at exit. Each phase encompasses measurable outputs to monitor the client's progress and assess the effectiveness of the business advisory services.

Key outputs include a business advisory inception questionnaire designed to capture the client's goals and objectives for their farming enterprise, baseline information regarding the client's competencies, livestock, infrastructure, diversification activities, succession planning activities, and a loan repayment plan. During the implementation phase, client progress will be evaluated against specific objectives, key milestones, and outcomes, facilitated through quarterly progress reports. This comprehensive process will entail the collection and review of farm-level data to determine progress, culminating in a final assessment and the development of a support plan at exit. The final business advisory assessment and support plan will mark the culmination of the identified activities and the successful completion of the one-year business advisory journey

How many times in a year do I have to control parasites?

Controlling parasites in any area/farm would depend on the their prevalence and infestation. These will differ between seasons and geographical locations because parasite prevalence and infestation is influence by the prevailing environmental conditions (e.g. hot, cold or wet conditions), and also livestock management practices (e.g. kraal and water hygiene) . It is therefore advisable to be on the lookout for parasite prevalence and infestation during any prevailing environmental condition. Normally, a minimum of two times in year is advisable, before and after the rainfall season for both internal and external parasites. read more
