Communication Policy

Overview
Agribank has an obligation to ensure that all communication of material information is factual, accurate, credible, and in compliance with applicable legal requirements of various regulatory laws of the Government. The establishment and the maintenance of effective internal and external communication require the formulation of a communication policy that serves as a guidance framework to all persons involved in the task of communication.

It is imperative that communication be consistent at all times and that selective disclosure be avoided at all times. Communication is the essence that dictates our relationships with our internal and external customers. It is through communication that we can positively manage and articulate our operations and activities so as to earn a reputation as an efficient and customer-centric institution that serves as a catalyst in the transformation of the agricultural sector.

The communication policy therefore ensures that material information is disclosed in a timely, consistent, and appropriate manner to stakeholders. The policy mandates all employees not to disclose internal matters or developments that relate in any way to material, non-public information to any person not affiliated with the Bank (including, without limitation, family members, relatives, and friends) except as authorised in accordance with the Policy. It further prevents the improper use or premature disclosure of confidential material information while providing direction for all Agribank staff in the appropriate treatment of material, confidential, general, and routine information.

Access to Agribank information
The Communication policy prescribes that all information concerning the Bank’s activities published externally in hard print or electronically must be verified in advance by the respective Executive and signed off by the CEO.

Unless officially authorised, no Agribank staff may give information or make official statements to external parties (including representatives of trade unions) to ensure that Agribank is not compromised through the dissemination of conflicting information.

All requests for information should be done in writing to the CEO, who shall use his discretion and/or be guided by applicable laws to allow for the sharing of such information with external parties.
